By: Anna LionasClutching their State Championship trophy, the Nome Nanooks Boys’ Basketball team exited the Alaska Airlines terminal in Nome on Sunday to a true hero’s welcome. A crowd of Nanook fans gathered as snow fell, holding signs praising the winning team and welcoming them home.

Budget cuts leave Cordova School District facing tough choices
Cordova School District officials were meeting last week to begin making tough budget choices after legislators failed to override Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s veto of a bipartisan education bill that boosted the Base Student Allocation (BSA).
